The Sarasota Alliance for Fair Elections (WWW.SAFEVOTE.ORG) has gathered more than the necessary validated signatures (14,500) to put voter verified paper ballots and mandatory random audits on the November 2006 ballot (now we only have touchscreen machines with no paper trail).  However, the Sarasota County Commissioners have refused to put it on the ballot (in contradition to their own Sarasota Charter). The Commissioners are claiming that the wording of the petition conflicts with Florida election law and are challenging parts of the petition language in Court (probably a delaying tactic to keep it off the ballot).
